lyrics
You, woman
Are a wilderness
A high-mountain view
Void of tenderness
Unconquered despite the climb
With shadowed roads on the horizon line
My gardens would be
Ones with flowering trees
But such seeds will not cling to the mountainside
So to you I may go for thin air and big skies
Don't need my flag on your peak
To enjoy the view
To prove to myself I ain't too weak
To see something new
Clear water drawn away
Some snowcaps do not stay
The summer under the sun
Oh how the river runs
She said you look thin
How long has it been?
With a beard on your chin...
Good to see you again
Seems seasons have their reasons
And we must abide
The oceans have their motions
The moon makes the tide
This is becoming one of my all-time favorite live albums. Outstanding setlist of some of her best songs, the band on point, and just a beautiful performance. jae
Title track was the first I'd ever heard of Jeff's work and it struck me like a ten-ton hammer.
Was a perfect fit for the small-town college I was attending at the time, not far from train tracks itself.
Every time I hear this, I can see the amber light of the street lamps and think about a few walks I made around campus in the dead of night.
Still haven't grabbed hold of the life I've been given as firmly as I ought to, but this song soothes my regret...and the chorus reminds me.... moonandstar8765
